The jEdit Plugin folder is located under the root. Is anyone actually maintaining this plugin now? It looks like there were a couple of bug fixes a year or so ago, but no real work on it since 2006. Make sure jEdit is not running and remove any prior Jalopy JAR files in your jEdit Plugin folder. It seems to take some checking and unchecking of the boxes to get them to go away. Once I get the right things checked and get the spaces to display in the text area, I can uncheck all the 'show space' checkboxes, and the spaces are still showing in the text area.
The third problem that I'm aware of is that the choices don't take effect right away. Further, checking items in the menu does not result in the corresponding items in the plugin options being checked. If I go to the plugin options, check "Show spaces", "Show leading spaces", "Show inner spaces", and "Show trailing spaces", then click OK, no spaces are shown in the text area and the menu items for these are still unchecked. I just wanted to see if anybody has had any luck with this plug-in.
#Jedit whitspace plugin not working install
When I download it manually and try to install it, it doesnt really work within jEdit. The menu actions effect only the current buffer while the plugin options are defaults and do only effect newly opened buffers. Has anybody had any luck installing the TextAutocomplete plug-in lately I cannot get the Plug-in Manager to download it (it gives a download error). The second is that the plugin options and the menu do not work together. The Whitespace plugin is working on a per buffer basis.
I don't see that it has any real purpose. Or better, just leave out the "Show spaces" choice altogether. It would probably be more clear if checking "Show spaces" also checked the other 3 choices automatically. It is not at all obvious that you have check "Show spaces" AND one or more of "Show leading spaces", "Show inner spaces", or "Show trailing spaces".
